What's Inside

This October, I'll be in Edmonton at Romance, Eh? again 🤩. Have you got Business Deal Bride yet? Also a recap on WWIT, What I'm Watching and What's Next. Here we go...!

Romance, Eh? - October 3th

I'm so excited to be invited back to the Romance, Eh? booksigning event in Edmonton October 3rd. I'll also be at the Friday night mixer (with Doug!) and I'll be doing a bogo with my Harlequins again, when you buy one of my self-published books. It's gonna be a wild ride! I hope to see you there!

If you're interested in attending, you'll find all the information here:

Business-deal Bride

Have you got your copy of Business Deal Bride?

Bertha on Goodreads gave it 5 stars and said:

"This Was A Romance I Would Enjoy Being In. ...The Story Itself Was Nicely Paced With Steam And Sizzle.... DC Did A Great Job With This Story."

A marriage contract signed…

and passionately sealed!

Tycoon Axel will claim ownership of the company he built—if he must marry his enemy’s secret daughter, then so be it. He just needs to persuade her to accept his strictly-business proposal!

Left destitute by her ex, dancer Joy has been working in a strip club to provide for her family. A year married to a stranger—even one as ruthless as Axel—seems a small price to pay for their financial security. Until they share a devastatingly fiery kiss, and Joy realises striking a deal with the devil means she’s going to get burned…

Look for the companion novel, Italian's Diamond Deception, with Mira's story!

What Was I Thinking?

Did you know I post an Author Commentary every week, offering behind the scenes info on books from my backlist? Last month, What Was I Thinking? covered the first four books in my Makricosta Dynasty, plus a standalone called A Debt Paid in Passion.

WWIT is a fun way to discover some of my older books and connected titles that you may have missed. You don't have to listen in order and you don't have to pay or give up your email or anything. You don't even have to download the episode if you don't want to. You can just click and start listening.

Listen Now

Hello Reader,

I could have combined this email with yesterday's What Was I Thinking?, but that felt too complicated. My poor brain is taxed enough these days.

It's not just world events bending my brain, either. According to Publisher's Weekly, in 2025, there were four million books published in the U.S. alone. Granted, I'm responsible for at least six of those--eighteen if you count Lovers and Liaisons, my reissued historical erotic short stories--but is it any wonder the world feels so overwhelming these days? It's nice to have choices, but decision fatigue is a real thing.

How do you choose new books to read? That's a real question. I was getting my recs from social media, but I'm rarely there anymore so I'm relying on a handful of author friends. I'm currently reading an advance copy of Brenna Bailey's sapphic-safari story, Wildly Yours, but I'd love to know what's making you say Wow these days?

Hit reply and tell me what you're reading. I prefer romance, but otherwise I'm highly suggestible.

What I'm Watching

I'm off socials and trying to replace it with reading and walking, but I'm still watching way too much television. Here's what I've been enjoying lately:

Hala has been on AppleTV for a while and I finally gave it a shot. I really liked it! It's sweet and lowkey and Val Kilmer's son costars.

Come See Me in the Good Light is a documentary about poet Andrea Gibson as she faces a terminal cancer diagnosis. It has painful moments, but it's also very sweet. Well worth the watch.

If I Had Legs I'd Kick You is a stressful ride with phenomenal acting by Rose Byrne.

Tucci in Italy is a lovely visit to various parts of Italy while eating a lot of offal.

Pursuit of Jade is a subtitled Chinese drama that has become my obsession. The heroine rescues a dying man who is a disgraced nobleman in disguise. She's a pig-slaughtering peasant and talks him into marrying her so she can keep her house. The story broadens to palace intrigue and there is some violence, but the costumes! The sets! The drama! The romance!! I just finished it yesterday and I didn't love the final episode. It felt a bit anti-climactic, but I suspect this will become a comfort watch for me.

If you're not watching DTF St. Louis with Jason Bateman and Linda Cardellini, what are you even doing with your life? I didn't know what to expect and I still don't know what to expect beyond great acting and a lot of weird plot twists.

Heartbreak High is an absolute hoot of an Aussie comedy-drama. If you enjoy scathing sarcasm and swears, you'll enjoy it. If you love sarcasm and swears, you'll love the new season of Deadloch. We almost needed subtitles for the lightning fast delivery of some of those lines by Eddie, but OMG. So funny.

We tried Young Sherlock and might go back to it. It's well-acted and well-produced, but we're not drawn in the way we were with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

The Pete Davidson podcast on Netflix is interesting. I'm not always familiar with the guests, but they're usually good for some laughs and some surprisingly real talk about mental health. I like it.

What's Next

I have the new cover for the re-issue of Afternoon Delight and I can't wait to share it with you! I was hoping that would be today, but I'm coordinating with the publisher on a few things first.

I believe Afternoon Delight will be out in early October and, to celebrate and support sales, I've written a prequel story about Georgia and Bruno. My daughter was tepid on the title I gave it so we're going to workshop that a little more before I release it. Stay tuned!

I've started my next Presents and thank goodness it's not due for a while. I got about twelve thousand words and ran into a plot issue. I know how to fix it and I know it will be a better book when I do, but I am not mentally prepared to tackle all that rewriting yet.

Which is another reason I pivoted to Georgia's story, lol.

As for new releases, if you enjoyed Business Deal Bride, look for Mira's story, Italian's Diamond Deception in May. Then I'll have:

  • Aug: Stolen For His Son
  • Oct: Waking up Newlywed
  • Dec: Greek's Dirty Little Secret

You should be able to find all of those on my website under Coming Soon.

Happy Endings

I'm very happy that my deadlines are under control, that spring has sprung and that I'll be going on a retreat later this month with my author friends, Rebecca Hunter and Tara Pammi. I can't wait!!

Hugs,

Dani
